While both the Snapdragon 765G and the Snapdragon 690 are octa-core CPUs, there are some notable differences in their core configurations which makes it hard to determine if one is better than the other without actually testing them in real life.
The first difference is in terms of the manufacturing process which is 7nm for the Snapdragon765G and 8nm for the Snapdragon 690 and here.

Starting from the comparison with the Processor segment, here both chipsets have 64-bit octa-core Processors
Where Snapdragon 690 has 2 ARM Cortex-A77 Gold Cores clocked up to 2.00GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Silver Cores operating up to 1.70GHz.
While the Snapdragon 765 G features 1 ARM Cortex-A76 Core clocked up to 2.4GHz, 1 ARM Cortex-A76 Core running up to 2.2GHz and 6 ARM Core clock speed.

The new Snapdragon 690 has the Adreno 619L GPU for gaming purposes, while in the Snapdragon 765 G you get the Adreno 620 GPU clocked at a clock speed up to 625MHz.
Here the Snapdragon 765 G has a better GPU because of which in comparison with the Snapdragon 690 chipset it can offer better gaming performance.
Manufacturing Process
In this segment, Snapdragon 690 is manufactured using 8 nm LPP process technology, while the Snapdragon 765 G is manufactured using a 7 nm production process.

The Snapdragon 690 features the Qualcomm Spectra 355L image signal processor, which is a 14-bit dual ISP and supports up to 16MP + 16MP dual.
And a single camera up to 192MP without MFNR and ZSL. With MFNR and ZSL, it supports a single camera sensor of up to 36MP.
On the other hand, Snapdragon 765G is equipped with the Qualcomm Spectra 355 image signal processor which is also a 14-bit dual ISP and supports up to 22MP + 22MP dual cameras.
And up to 192MP single camera without MFNR and ZSL.
With MFNR and ZSL, it supports a single camera sensor of up to 32MP.

Here the Snapdragon 690 has support for storage of up to 8 GB LPDDR4x RAM clocked at up to 2133MHz and eMMC 5.1 & UFS 2.1.

In the display case, Snapdragon 690 supports HDR10 + and HDR10 displays with a resolution of up to 120Hz for Full HD Plus and 60Hz for Quad HD.
On the other hand, Snapdragon 765G has support for HDR10 + and HDR10 displays with a resolution of up to 60Hz for Quad HD Plus and up to 60Hz for Ultra HD Plus.
4. AI
Snapdragon 765G is fitted with the Qualcomm Kryo 475 AIE CPU with Qualcomm Hexagon 696 Processor coupled with Qualcomm ® Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX)
Qualcomm Hexagon Tensor Accelerator and Qualcomm Sensing Hub while Snapdragon 690 has Qualcomm Kryo 560 AIE CPU combined with Qualcomm Hexagon 692 Processor and 2x Qualcomm Hexagon Vector eXtensions (Hexagon 690).
This Snapdragon 765G is a better chipset than Snapdragon 690 in terms of AI processing as it has a better AI processor.
5. Connectivity Features
Connectivity-wise both chipsets have 5G technology support.
Speaking of Snapdragon 690, it has Qualcomm Snapdragon X51 5 G Modem-RF System which can provide a maximum download speed of 2.5Gbps
And an upload speed of up to 660Mbps while at 4G it can capture a maximum download speed of up to 1.2Gbps and an upload speed of up to 210Mbps.
On the other side, Snapdragon 765G features the Qualcomm Snapdragon X52 Modem-RF system capable of capturing a maximum download speed of up to 3.7Gbps
And an upload speed of up to 1.6Gbps while it can upload up to 1.2Gbps for 4G network while uploading up to 210Mbps for downloading.

Certain features like manufacturing process, camera, RAM-Storage, display, networking, etc. are also better than Snapdragon 765G.
